Is my CBE receipt real?
If you received a CBE receipt and aren't sure if it's real, here's how to check. Scammers can create fake receipts using image editors. The only way to confirm a receipt is real is to verify it against CBE's official records.
Method 1: Verify with Tuna
Paste your FT reference into txna.me. Tuna calls CBE's API directly — if the transaction exists, it's real. If it doesn't exist, the receipt is fake.
Method 2: Check with CBE directly
Call CBE customer service at 8027 or visit your nearest branch. They can verify any transaction using the reference number.
Red flags for fake receipts
- • Wrong date format or missing date
- • Amount doesn't match what was agreed
- • Sender name is generic or missing
- • Reference number doesn't match CBE format (FT + 11 chars)
- • Receipt looks like a screenshot of a screenshot
